Square Enix has shared some new info about the status of Dragon Quest XI during its recent Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary Project Presentation (via Gematsu).

The forthcoming role-playing sequel's story is 'nearly finished', though it looks like fans won't be able to get their hands on it anytime soon.

The publisher is aiming to release the game during the series's 30th anniversary, which happens to be between May 27 of this year and May 27, 2017.

Dragon Quest XI was unveiled last July. It is in development for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS.

Meanwhile, a version for Nintendo's mysterious NX console is "under consideration" but hasn't been fully confirmed yet.
