MasterChef has crowned the winner of its 22nd season, following an adrenaline-filled final. Tonight's episode saw the three finalists going head-to-head in the iconic kitchen, before Jhané Gibson became the 2026 champion.

After prevailing over 45 other amateur cooks throughout the competition, the finalists - Jhané, Kristen and Matt - were given one last challenge by judges Grace Dent and Anna Haugh.

They were tasked with creating a three-course meal representing the "three greatest dishes" of their lives, with a time limit of just three hours. Jhané's three courses were a tribute to her family and loved ones.

She began with a starter of red snapper with fried crispy scales and pickled vegetable escabeche in an aguachile sauce. For her main, she presented piri piri poussin, served with crispy spiced potatoes, a piri piri sauce with chilli oil as well as a fennel and citrus salad,

Her dessert, meanwhile, was inspired by her grandmother's ginger and rum cake, and was lovingly served with a plant-based coconut Chantilly cream, hibiscus gel and mango compote.

"I am a MasterChef champion! Those words feel so funny coming out of my mouth, but I am ecstatic, and I honestly don't think I've ever been happier," she said, calling her stint the "journey of a lifetime".

"I can't wait for all the exciting things that are coming next. I hope this trophy shows that if you go after your dreams, it might just pay off," added the star, who called the BBC series "incredible".

Viewers took to social media to share their delight and congratulate the "deserving" winner, with one writing on X: "Well done #Jhane #Masterchef thought she was good from her very first cook."

"Congratulations Jhane, 1st ever time I called it from the very start. Thoroughly deserved. Well done to the other 2 as well," noted another, while a third opined that Jhané was a "worthy winner" from the "very close final".
