According to the boss of leading games retailer, GameStop, PlayStation VR might not launch until autumn 2016.

This would mean the headset is launching much later than expected, following Sony saying it would release in the first half of 2016 during last year's Games Developer Conference (GDC).

Speaking in a Fox News interview, as spotted by VideoGamer, GameStop CEO Paul Raines said  his company will be launching the headset this "fall", contradicting Sony's previously announced release window.

You can hear his comments at 3:34 in this video:

A Sony spokespersontold Digital Spy that the company had nothing to announce just yet.

"The launch date will be announced in due course," the spokesperson said. "We have nothing more to comment on at this time."

When it finally lands, PlayStation VR should have a sizeable library, with over 100 games in the works for the device, according to Sony. This should go some way to helping it stand up against rival VR headsets the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, which are both expected to release in the coming months.

As far as price is concerned, Sony hasn't released an official number yet, although another retailer leak suggests it will be around the £350 mark

Meanwhile, PlayStation VR just lost one of its biggest figureheads, Dave Ranyard, who has left to work across all platforms instead of being tied to Sony.
