Capcom has confirmed that Alex will be the first Street Fighter 5 DLC fighter, arriving in March at the same time as the in-game store.
It was announced alongside the news that PS4 players will be able to play Street Fighter 5 with their PS3 fight sticks.
Street Fighter 5 launches next week with 16 playable characters. Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri and Urien will also join the roster at some point after the game's February 16 launch on PS4 and PC, but you'll have to use the in-game currency, 'Fight Money', to unlock them.
It isn't clear at the moment what rate the game will hand out Fight Money, but you'll be able to speed up the process by using real cash.
