The actor announced his departure from The Daily Show on Twitter today, following TBS picking up his family comedy pilot.
Created by Jones and wife Samantha Bee, the ten-episode untitled family comedy will pair the comic with Natalie Zea as parents who take their troublesome children on a disastrous vacation.
Jones addressed his status on The Daily Show by tweeting: "For 9 & 1/2 years, I have worked at one of the greatest TV shows of all time. But... It is time for me to go.
"That said, I am ecstatic to announce that I'm about to make another great show over @tbsveryfunny."

Comedy Central said later in the day: "Jason Jones will be leaving The Daily Show with Jon Stewart later this year to begin production on his new series. Samantha Bee will remain with the show."
The husband-and-wife duo were both tipped as contenders to host The Daily Show once Jon Stewart leaves.
Jones joined the Comedy Central satirical news series as a contributor in September 2005, becoming a full-time cast member three months later.
