Magic City will make the leap to the big screen in a new film starring Bruce Willis and Bill Murray.

Starz cancelled the critically-acclaimed drama series in 2013 after just two seasons

Magic City creator Mitch Glazer is now writing and directing a film spinoff, which features Jeffrey Dean Morgan returning to the role of Miami hotel owner Ike Evans.

Original series cast members Olga Kurylenko, Danny Huston and Kelly Lynch are all attached to reprise their characters as well, reports Deadline.

Glazer's movie will see Ike's struggle to keep his hotel above water set against America's conflict with Cuba in 1962 and president John F Kennedy's affair with a Miami Mob boss's mistress.

"The chance to explore this wild time and place and this compelling family saga is a dream come true," Glazer said in a statement.
