We already knew that Ryan Murphy was the champion of the anthology series (American Horror Story, American Crime Story, we're looking at you), but now he's looking like the champion of inclusivity, too.

Because according to Deadline, the writer and director has made TV history by assembling the largest cast of transgender actors in regular roles ever.

The barrier-breaking move is for his latest FX series Pose, which will look at the juxtaposition of different aspects of New York City in the 1980s, something which we are totally down for.

Set in 1986, Pose will explore social and financial contrasts in New York, touching on the emergence of the luxury 'Trump era', along with the downtown social and literary scene of the time.

Those now signed on for the series include trans actresses MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross, who will all play trans characters on the show.

Pose's co-creator Steven Canals has said that he's "thrilled" to be pushing the narrative of trans women and gay people of colour" on mainstream television.

"Ryan has assembled a strong team of storytellers and innovators to collaborate on telling this important narrative," he continued.

"As a Bronx-bred queer writer of colour, I'm honoured to aid in ushering this groundbreaking show into homes."

Production for Pose is expected to kick off in New York City next month. The series will air on FX in the US.
