By Maggie Gyllenhaal will star in a HBO porn drama from The Wire's David Simon.
The actress joins The Deuce as a prostitute named Eileen Merrell - also known as 'Candy' - who is drawn into the world of porn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, set in early 1970s New York, centres on the rise of the porn industry and how it was impacted by the rise of HIV and the cocaine epidemic.
James Franco previously signed on to star as twins heavily involved in helping to popularise the industry. Both Franco and Gyllenhaal will produce on the project.
The pilot will be directed by Breaking Bad's Michelle MacLaren.
Gyllenhaal has appeared in numerous films in her career, including The Dark Knight and White House Down, but recently moved to TV in BBC's miniseries The Honourable Woman.
