Lethal Weapon star Keesha Sharp has dropped some exclusive hints to Digital Spy about directing "one of the biggest episodes" in the show's history which she describes as a cross between James Bond and Jason Bourne.

The actress, who plays Trish Murtaugh, gets behind the camera for Tuesday's episode 'Panama' (at US pace). The action-packed episode sees Cole (Seann William Scott) grappling with his past during an investigation.

"It was amazing. I've directed before, I've done sitcoms but I've never done an hour-long drama," she teased. "And I got one of the biggest episodes we've ever done.

"I was shocked when I read it, I was like, 'Oh my god! They gave me a huge episode', and I felt very respected. I felt that they trusted me, and that felt really great. The episode is amazing."

What to Read Next

Keesha Sharp was particularly thrilled to step behind the scenes because this particular Lethal Weapon episode allowed her to tap into her "action junkie" pedigree.

"It's a cross between a little Casino Royale in there with a little Jason Bourne," she told us. "I'm an action junkie when it comes to movies. I love, love action movies but it also has to have a story, it has to have depth and drama in it.

"To me, Casino Royale is the perfect example of that, or a Jason Bourne movie. It has everything in it. And they gave me a script like that, so I'm excited for people to see it, but I was overwhelmed in a beautiful way to be given that script.

"It was amazing, and I love being behind the camera and being there for the actors as well and having an amazing cast and crew and production I couldn't have done it without them. I felt really blessed and still do."

The episode centres around Cole having to confront some startling news from his past when he's visited by his former mentor Tom Barnes (24's Mykelti Williamson) during a routine investigation of stolen safe deposit boxes.

The directing opportunity also gave Keesha a chance to work closer than ever with new co-star Seann William Scott, who she described as "the sweetest soul you will ever meet".

Lethal Weapon continues on tonight (Tuesday, November 6) at 8/7c on FOX. The series airs on ITV in the UK.
