DC's live-action Titans series hasn't even aired its first episode yet, but a second season has already been commissioned.

The dark and gritty imagining of the Teen Titans comic series (which has spawned two popular children's animated series) is the leading original programme for the DC Universe streaming service, which launched recently in the US.

What to Read Next

Speaking at New York Comic-con (via Entertainment Weekly), executive producer Geoff Johns said: "We're doing season 2 already.

"That to me shows the faith that DC Universe has in the show and this amazing cast and the property.

"DC's so supportive of it. To be able to get a season two greenlit now means we just get to keep talking about crazy ideas.

"We already know the story of season two. Marv Wolfman (writer of New Teen Titans) will be very happy when we do season two."

Fellow exec producer Akiva Goldsman teased that the second run will adapt even more comic stories and, with the name drop of Wolfman, it looks like they are looking specifically at classic stories such as 'The Judas Contract'.

Titans focuses on the Dick Grayson version of Robin after he has a big falling out with Batman, and sees him form a team with shapeshifting Beast Boy, the alien Starfire and the half-demon Raven.

Netflix will carry the show in international territories, which makes us worry that DCs streaming service won't be leaving America anytime soon.
