Titans star Brenton Thwaites has weighed in on the obsession with his character Nightwing/Dick Grayson's butt, revealing that he isn't offended by the attention.

In an interview for the upcoming edition of SFX, Thwaites touched on the subject, saying that the focus on his behind doesn't bother him.

"I don’t know what to say except I will keep doing some squats! That’s cool," he told the magazine. "The episodes aren’t about my ass, although it’s not something I would shy away from or be offended by."

The actor also touched on the fact that most characters are sexualised in comic-book illustrations, adding: "You look at the comics and both males and females are sexualised. That’s just a part of the content to get people in.

"It’s the two-sided character. It’s Dick Grayson and then when he puts the suit on, he’s shiny. He’s sexy, charismatic and a superhero. That’s just part of it."

Season four of the DC comic adaptation premiered earlier this month and sees Thwaites star alongside Anna Diop, Teagan Croft and Ryan Potter. Sons of Anarchy star Titus Welliver briefly appears as Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor, too.

The season also introduces a new villain in the form of Brother Blood, played by The Vampire Diaries star Joseph Morgan.

Speaking to Den of Geek about his character, Morgan revealed he wanted to make sure his character appeared as an outsider, saying: "For me, it really started with, 'Okay, well, where’s he from? Do I make him British or American?'

"I had a long chat with Greg Walker – Titans' showrunner – about that. We decided to make him British because I felt it gives him even more of a feeling of being an outsider."

SFX issue 360 is out on December 1.

Titans sirs on HBO Max in the US. Netflix carries the show in the UK.
