Upcoming DC Universe series Doom Patrol has found its Negative Man.

Magic Mike and American Crime Story actor Matt Bomer will take on the role, appearing as alter ego Larry Trainor in flashback scenes and providing the character's voiceover.

Bomer confirmed his casting at the Titans world premiere at New York Comic-Con on Wednesday (October 3), surprising fans with an on-set video introduced by Robotman star Brendan Fraser.

Doom Patrol, heading to DC's new streaming service in 2019, is a spin-off of the live-action Titans series based around Brenton Thwaites as Robin.

As well as Bomer as Negative Man, the show revolves around oddball heroes Robotman (Fraser), Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), led by mad scientists Dr Niles Caulder (Timothy Dalton) and Cyborg (Joivan Wade).

The Doom Patrol will first be introduced in an episode of Titans when they presumably cross paths with their frequent ally Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), before getting their own series.

Supernatural's Jeremy Carver will serve as showrunner of the series, which is executive-produced by Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter.

Doom Patrol is expected to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service next year, launching with 13 episodes.
