DC's streaming service is handing out spin-offs to shows that haven't even premiered yet!
The as-yet-to-launch DC Universe will be coming later this year and one of its marquee shows will be the live-action Titans, in which Batman's protege Robin (Brenton Thwaites) forms his own superhero team.
In one upcoming Titans episode, Robin, Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft) and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) will cross paths with Beast Boy's adopted family, the rival hero team known as the Doom Patrol.
DC clearly has a lot of confidence in this episode of Titans because it has already handed out a spin-off to the Doom Patrol, with Bruno Bichir seemingly reprising his role as the group's leader Chief.
The 13-episode series will also be expected to bring back Titans guest stars Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby), Robotman (Jake Michaels), Negative Man (Dwain Murphy) and Crazy Jane — in addition to introducing Justice League member Cyborg!
Here is the official synopsis of the series: "The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find.
What to Read Next
"Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.
"Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same."
There is no casting information yet for Crazy Jane or Cyborg. The creative team for Doom Patrol includes Greg Berlanti (Arrow), DCEU head honcho Geoff Johns, Supernatural's Jeremy Carver and Sarah Schechter (Supergirl).
Doom Patrol will premiere on subscription streaming service DC Universe next year, and signals the potential for an interconnected series of superhero shows like Netflix used with Marvel's Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
