The People v. O.J. Simpson and American Horror Story producer Ryan Murphy has another soapy winner on his hands with Feud, if a new first-look photo is any indication.
Murphy's former American Horror Story star Jessica Lange and Oscar winner Susan Sarandon are the picture of Hollywood glamour as movie icons Joan Crawford and Bette Davis on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.
The upcoming FX anthology drama is rooted in the notorious Hollywood rivalry between Crawford and Davis, culminating in their fireworks on the set of the classic thriller What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?.
In their first interview promoting Feud, Sarandon and Lange offered very differing opinions on whether they related to the glamorous Hollywood legends they portray.
"I never saw myself as being one of the beautiful girls… So I kind of understood and related to [Davis]," Sarandon explained.
However, Lange described herself as the "polar opposite" of Joan Crawford - who notoriously fought her way to Hollywood's upper echelons after a troubled and impoverished upbringing.

In true Ryan Murphy style, Feud examines not only the animosity between the two women but also the patriarchal Hollywood studio system that pitted them against each other to begin with.
"I wasn't interested in just doing this broad, campy [show]," Murphy explained. "I was interested in the idea of sexism, ageism, misogyny.
"Turning 40, 45, 50 and feeling like you're at the height of your powers and people saying, 'Well, you're done'."
Crawford's troubled personal life and allegations of child abuse were previously the basis of the cult classic Mommie Dearest, starring Faye Dunaway.
The incredible cast assembled by Murphy for Feud includes American Horror Story favourite Sarah Paulson and Catherine Zeta-Jones as the influential actresses Geraldine Page and Olivia de Havilland, Alfred Molina as What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? director Robert Aldrich, and Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka as Davis's daughter B. D. Hyman.
Feud premieres on FX in the US on March 5.
