HBO's critical darling The Leftovers is coming to an end next season - and co-creator Damon Lindelof has begun to share details of what fans can expect.
Speaking to Deadline, Lindelof confirmed that they have a final scene in mind and are working their way towards it in their remaining episodes.
"We eventually said, what do we want the last scene of the series to be, who's in that scene, and what's happening in that scene? What do we want the scene to evoke emotionally?" he said.
"And then, on a storytelling level, what happens, what feels like finality in a show that has never been about resolving mystery and delivering conclusive endings... How do we want the audience to be feeling when it's all over?
"Season three, the show is ending, and that's infusing it with a certain degree of energy that's different, perhaps, than the previous seasons."
When asked how fans will emotionally feel with the last scene, Lindelof teased: "Definitely not shock. As for comfort - well, that's all relative."
