Steven Williams has joined the cast of The Leftovers season two.
The actor will recur as Virgil, described as an outcast who becomes a confidant to lead character Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), reports Deadline.
Williams played Mr X in The X-Files and hunter Rufus Turner in Supernatural.
The Leftovers is undergoing a revamp for its second season, with a cast shake-up and a move from New York to Texas.
Co-creator Damon Lindelof recently said that he was inspired to "shake things up" by The Wire, explaining he admires the "audacity and boldness" of the direction the show took.
Based on Tom Perrotta's novel of the same name, The Leftovers follows the aftermath of the Sudden Departure - an event likened to the Rapture in which 2% of the world's population vanish.
