Netflix has announced a surprise new Stranger Things documentary – and it's coming very soon.
Behind the Curtain: Stranger Things: The First Shadow will grant fans an "electrifying" backstage look at the making of the award-winning West End play and will feature footage of the lead up to the show's world premiere.
Directed by Jon Halperin, Behind the Curtain is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on April 15, 2025.
"With special behind-the-scenes access, follow the cast and crew of Stranger Things: The First Shadow as they race against time to prepare the ambitious, boundary-pushing stage show for its West End debut amid mounting fan and critic anticipation," reads the description.
The prequel play, titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow, kicked off at London's Phoenix Theatre in December 2023 and follows a young Jim Hopper (Oscar Lloyd), Bob Newby (Christopher Buckley) and Henry Creel (Louis McCartney) in 1959 Hawkins.
"Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper's car won't start, Bob Newby's sister (Ella Karuna Williams) won't take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado (Isabella Pappas) just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn't so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach," teases the synopsis.

The critically-acclaimed play is executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, who created the story alongside Kate Trefry.
The ensemble cast is made up of Shane Attwooll, Michael Jibson, Patrick Vaill, Lauren Ward, Kemi Awoderu, Chase Brown, Ammar Duffus, Gilles Geary, Florence Guy, Max Harwood, Matthew Pidgeon, Calum Ross and Maisie Norma Seaton.
Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. The fifth and final season is on the way. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is now booking until February 2025 at the Phoenix Theatre in London. Tickets are available now.
