HBO has shared a first-look photo from Euphoria season three.

The edgy teen drama - which has been described as "brutal" and "horrifying" by some critics, while others have hailed it as "thrilling" and "compelling" - recently began filming its third season, following years of delays since season two's debut back in January 2o22.

A first-look photo from the upcoming season has now been released, featuring Zendaya’s return as Rue Bennett.

Other cast members returning for season three include Sydney Sweeney as Cassie, Jacob Elordi as Nate, Hunter Schafer as Jules and Alexa Demie as Maddy.

One actor who won't be returning is Storm Reid, who has played Rue's younger sister Gia since season one.

"Unfortunately, Gia's not returning to the third season, but I am so, so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO," Reid confirmed in November.

"Euphoria's a really special thing, and I'm so glad that that's a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon… I can't wait to see what season 3 has in store."

Season three is set to feature a time-jump to explain why the actors will have aged since the first batch of episodes.

"With the time jump, it's a new process for me," Sweeney told Cosmopolitan last year.

"I'm kind of just learning as I go and being open for whatever's to come. But I'm also really excited.

"I love Cassie. She is always such a thrilling character to play, so I'm really looking forward to what's gonna happen in her life."

Euphoria airs on HBO and streams on Max in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and Sky Go/NOW in the UK.
