Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has opened up about her return for the show's third season, as well as the planned time jump.

It was recently confirmed that Euphoria season three will begin production in January 2025, three years after season two was released.

The post-production process alone will likely push the release date even further, so a previously-announced time jump for the upcoming episodes will no longer require the cast of twentysomethings to pretend to be teenagers.

Sweeny, who stars as Cassie Howard in Sam Levinson's teen drama, opened up about the show's return during a new interview with Cosmopolitan, saying the time jump is a "new process" for her.

"We did have a long time between season one and season two, but especially now with the time jump, it's a new process for me," she said.

As for what she's most looking forward to about returning to set, the Immaculate star said she always feels like she's "coming home to family" when she reunites with her co-stars and the crew.

"They were the crew and the cast that were there at the beginning of my career. We all came up from different places but came together and were navigating so much at the same time, so it's really nice having that core group," she added.

"They're experiencing a similarity to what I’m going through. It’s nice to have that community."

Sweeney will star in season three alongside fellow returning cast members including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi and Alexa Demie.

Euphoria airs on HBO in the US and on NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
