The remake will follow the same premise as the 1987 movie, but will be set in 2025 in a dystopian United States, overrun by violence and poverty.
The movie has already begun production in London, with Powell seen shooting on location back in November 2024. It is currently scheduled for a November 7, 2025 release date.
Speaking previously about the movie, Powell said he was "so fired up" for the remake and praised Wright's creative vision.
"The world that Edgar's developed on this thing is just outrageous," he said in an interview with IndieWire. "It's so good. And really, we're just both such big fans of the Stephen King book [the movie is based on], and it's going to be a great character."
The Running Man is slated to be released on November 7, 2025.
