Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has shared his "emotional" feelings about the show's imminent end.

The hit series, set in 80s Indiana, follows a group of teenagers fighting supernatural forces. The fifth and final season has already wrapped filming and is due to arrive on Netflix later this year.

In an interview with Deadline, Wolfhard (who plays Mike Wheeler) discussed his time on the show and the experience of watching the final chapter unfold. "A lot of people grew up on that show. It was a very emotional thing to leave behind," he said.

The actor recently starred in the fantasy adventure The Legend of Ochi, which wrapped production in 2021 and is scheduled for release this spring. He compared his excitement for the long-awaited movie to the upcoming Stranger Things finale.

"I'm incredibly excited just to see the show because you work for something for so [long]… It was sort of like this movie where it's like, we worked on this so long ago, in 2021, and you move on and live your life, and then all of a sudden it's like, oh, it's happening.

Wolfhard also shared how he felt when production for Strangers Things finally wrapped last December. "I was feeling a bit depressed about it being over just because of not being able to see everyone and stuff," he admitted.

"And then you remember… You're like, 'Oh, but it comes out and people get to see it, and you get to re-experience it with everyone.'"

He added: "To be able to sit down and watch [The Legend of Ochi, at the Sundance Film Festival] with the crew and reconnect was so emotional for me and made the movie all that more important. And I would hope that obviously that's where Stranger Things 5 goes."

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. The fifth and final season is on the way. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is now booking until February 2025 at the Phoenix Theatre in London. Tickets are available now.
