The mystery drama, which is being produced by Rhimes’ company Shondaland, follows Detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) as she investigates a murder at the White House.
With fans eagerly awaiting a new slice of crime-solving, Netflix has now confirmed via X/Twitter that the “screwball whodunnit” will premiere on the streaming service on March 20, 2025, with the post also including a photo of Aduba and Randall Park in character.

The eight-part series, which is based on Kate Andersen Brower’s The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House, has been created and developed by Paul William Davis, with Liza Johnson directing the first four parts.
Whilst fans will have to wait a few months for The Residence to premiere, Rhimes has plenty of shows on the air from her own production company, with Bridgerton airing its third season earlier this year.

Rhimes recently discussed the appeal of the romance show, explaining: “I think there's this desire for something simpler, where there are rules to courting. We just said, ‘how do you meet somebody?’
“Well, back then you met somebody because you went to these balls, your parents talked and you had a dance. People seem to love that sort of order to a world, where the rules of love are so clear.”
The Residence will premiere on Netflix on March 20, 2025.
