The wait is almost over for Lupin fans as the acclaimed Netflix series has finally confirmed when season 4 will hit our screens. Omar Sy returns as gentleman thief Assane Diop in a new eight-part season set to air three years after season 3 made it onto the platform in October 2023.
Loosely based on the shenanigans of thief Arsène Lupin, the character created by Maurice Leblanc, Lupin follows Sy's antihero as he sets out to clear his father's name after he's framed for a theft he didn't commit and dies by suicide in prison.
Inspired by a book about Leblanc's professional thief his dad gave him, Assane becomes hellbent on revenge on the powerful family who landed his old man in jail. Season 2 and 3 further explores Assane's mission as well as his personal relationships, including those with his estranged wife Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and son Raoul (Etan Simon).

Season 4 is now expected to debut on Netflix on 23 October, with all episodes dropping at once. Alongside Sy, the cast is rounded out by Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard.
Sy took to his Instagram Stories to share the official poster for the new instalment, seeing master of disguise Assane looking out onto Paris from the dizzying height of the Eiffel Tower. Meanwhile, the streamer has also pulled a stunt across the streets of the Ville Lumière, using a cherry picker to reveal the release date in a banner.

"The real Lupin returns," the message reads.
"You can do a lot of things with a cherry picker. Like revealing a date, for example," Sy joked on his Instagram, sending fans in a frenzy.
The series has consistently received critical acclaim across its three seasons, with season 1 debuting with a critic score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 and 3 have earned ratings of 96% and 100% on the same review aggregator.
Season 4 of Lupin starts streaming on Netflix on 23 October. Seasons 1-3 are available on the same platform now.
