Liv Tyler has explained what attracted her to The Leftovers.
The Lord of the Rings actress stars in the HBO show as Megan Abbott, a woman on the verge of getting married before her life is turned upside down.
Speaking to this month's Town & Country, Tyler revealed: "When I heard the premise, I thought, 'That's right up my street'.
"I'm attracted to things that are a little off. Growing up I was a huge fan of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Creepshow - things that don't provide all the answers.
"Normally I'd say I'm not a competitive person; I kind of think things happen for a reason. But for the first time in my life I really went for a role."
The actress, who is dating Dave Gardner and is currently pregnant with her second child, added: "The most fun thing about being pregnant again is having those mom hormones flowing around. You're more present in your body, and it's making me a better mother for Milo.

"I mean, for seven years I'd been saying I wanted to do an HBO show with an ensemble cast. And I wanted a house in the country. And getting to have another child? If you knew me well, they were the things my heart longed for. And they all came together, like a speeding freight train, in one year."
Tyler's Leftovers co-star Justin Theroux also previously revealed that it was "a gut instinct" to star in the show.
