Fate: The Winx Saga won't be getting a third season following its cancellation by Netflix after just two seasons.
Breaking the news via Instagram, showrunner Brian Young posted an emotional update on the series writing: "Hi All! So this is not fun news to share, but Netflix have decided not to move forward with season three of Fate: The Winx Saga."
Speaking directly to fans of the series, the showrunner said the love that fans had for the show was a "silver lining" during the "tough" time.

"This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season. It's a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same," he wrote.
Young also took the opportunity to thank the cast and crew for their hard work saying that he was "so proud" and "grateful" for their contribution to creating the fantasy world.

Netflix's Fate: The Winx Saga, which was based on an Italian cartoon of the same name, followed a group of fairies who attended high school together in a fantasy land.
The ending of season 2 saw the fairies lose their leader Bloom, who entered the Realm of Darkness to close a portal after a battle with the blood witches, but it looks like fans won't see a resolution to the cliffhanger any time soon.
Fate: The Winx Saga is available to stream now on Netflix.
