Michael C Hall's Bay Harbour Butcher may be dead in the snow, but there's every chance a second season of Dexter: New Blood could happen, it's just a case of the network putting its heads together.
Speaking to TVLine about a possible continuation, Showtime Networks president Gary Levine insisted: "It's too soon to say.
"We're still basking in the glow of the limited series, which was everything we hoped for."

Of course, the next evolution of the Dexter universe would have to focus on the serial killer's son Harrison (played by Jack Alcott), who put an end to the Dexter Morgan era in that stunning, yet divisive New Blood finale last year.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips previously said of the situation: "It's all in Showtime's hands. If they were to call me and say, 'We want to do Harrison. We want you to figure it out.'
"I'm pretty busy, but I would drop everything I'm doing and jump right into it. I would love to do it, but it's really up to Showtime."

Luckily for fans, Paramount Global's David Nevins gave a more positive account of the franchise's future just last month.
"There are a lot of things that I am working on. I don't want to mention things until they are ready," he teased. "There are a lot of things. What is the future [of] the Dexter franchise? I am actively working on that."
