Netflix crime anthology The Sinner is bowing out with its fourth season.

Starring Bill Pullman as detective Harry Ambrose, this well-received police procedural originally premiered in the summer of 2017, with Jessica Biel (The A-Team) and Carrie Coon (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) making appearances in the first and sophomore seasons respectively.

TVLine now reports that an extended series finale is scheduled to air on Wednesday, December 1 on the USA Network.

Addressing the show's imminent end, creator Derek Simonds commented: "It's been a huge pleasure and a privilege to be able to tell the kind of stories we have on The Sinner these past four seasons.

"[Universal Content Productions] and USA have been ideal partners and continually supportive of our creative goals, and I'm so pleased to complete Harry Ambrose's dramatic series-long arc as we intended in this final season.

Pullman saw Ambrose evolve over the course of the series. Speaking about the character in March 2020, he told GQ:

"In the second season, there was his inability to contain his anger as he risks being more vulnerable to other people. He's trying to keep himself from going off of the rails.

"In the third, he's up against this person who has said, 'you're a lot like me, Harry Ambrose, in more ways than you're willing to admit. You're angry and you're going to act out on that,' and somehow that is being unlocked in that relationship with Jamie makes things very dangerous, because there's a sense that violence is going to come out."

We'll have to wait and see how the series ends things for Ambrose next month.

The Sinner season 4 airs on the USA Network, while seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix.
