For many Love Island contestants, their pre-fame day jobs are simply a thing of the past.
Their pint-pulling and pen-selling days are long behind them as they instead look forward to #spon Instagram posts, nightclub appearances, clothing line deals and television opportunities.
But Alex George – who was better known as Dr Alex in the villa, thanks to his occupation as an A&E doctor – has consistently said he very much wants to return to the hectic department. However, on Friday morning (August 24), it was announced that he will be filling in as a Health Editor on Good Morning Britain in Dr Hilary Jones' absence.
According to The Telegraph, he is vying to get back to work but his bosses, who kept his role open for him during his summer hiatus in Majorca, "are worried he might get mobbed by fans at the hospital, so he's waiting for his celebrity to die down" – hence why he is filling in on GMB "in the meantime".
The 27-year-old told the newspaper that he was approached by the show's producers with the opportunity to appear on the 2018 series, and it was the experiences he'd had in the south London hospital where he works that urged him to seriously consider it.
"As a doctor, I've been there at the last moments of people's lives and there are always regrets about what they haven't done, not what they have," he said. "I asked myself, 'Could I live with it if I didn't take the opportunity?'"

He added that although he's used to the pressurised environment of A&E, "Love Island was so far out of [his] comfort zone".
Since leaving the villa, he's refused to do any nightclub PAs, saying he'd "rather be at home with a cup of tea".
Us too, Alex, us too.
