Married at First Sight Australia star Richard Sauerman has revealed he asked TV bride Andrea Thompson for a second chance at their relationship.

The reality TV star was matched with Andrea in the 2024 series of the hit Australian dating series. Despite a strong start, the couple later called it quits during the sixth commitment ceremony, with both feeling they couldn't work past their communication problems.

Appearing on the Back to Reality podcast this week, Richard admitted that the relationship wasn't totally over for him, with him asking Andrea if she'd be open to rekindling their romance.

"Did you or did you not ask for Andy back, and asked for a second shot?" asked host and former MAFS star Selina Chhaur in a teaser clip posted to her Instagram account.

"We had a coffee and I said to her is there a chance? Yeah, I did. I asked her that," replied Richard.

Asked of what Andrea's response was, Richard added: "I didn't expect her to say yes, but I still had to ask, otherwise you die wondering.

"Because when I saw her, I hadn't seen her for a while and she rocked up, like I was really excited. I was like 'Oh, it's Andy'. But I think yeah, it's not going to happen."

Selina wondered if the flame was officially "put out" between the former reality TV couple.

"I think from her point of view, yeah," admits Richard. "I think she'd just laugh, you know, at the thought of it."

Making light of the situation, the MAFS groom recalled a joke Andy had made about him in another interview.

"She said if I date another guy and he turns up wearing a scarf, I'll go f**king run a mile," he laughed.
