Married at First Sight Australia star Alyssa Barmonde has taken a jab at her ex-husband after viewers didn't warm to her.

Alyssa has called out her former hubby Duncan James, saying that he failed to come to her aid when fans of the show branded her a villain.

The pair were matched on the tenth series of the show, which aired earlier this year, but it was not happy ever after for the duo.

They parted ways at the Final Vows ceremony and since then have had a rocky relationship.

Speaking to hosts Taku Chimwaza and Selina Chhaur on the Back to Reality podcast, Alyssa discussed the show and Duncan from her perspective.

"He never once stood up for me publicly," she said. "I was receiving harassment, death threats, terrible messages, people were finding my mobile number."

Alyssa said that the threats and harassment ended up impacting her career.

"I had to shut down my business because it was getting trolled," she stated.

She believes that Duncan could have done more to help her in the wake of the show.

"All it would have taken is for him to say, 'Stop bullying Alyssa, She doesn't deserve it'. But he didn't," she said.

Digital Spy has reached out to Duncan's rep for comment.

Since Alyssa and Duncan split, Duncan found love with fellow MAFS star Evelyn Ellis.
