One of Finland's snowboarding team has been spotted knitting on and around the slopes of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Why, you ask? Well, the reason is pretty adorable.

Eyebrows were raised by viewers who noticed that Finnish snowboarding coach Antti Koskinen was knitting while waiting for his athlete Roope Tonteri to hit the slopes.

It seems like an odd thing to do 1) in sub-zero temperatures and 2) during the middle of a high-stakes (perhaps the most high-stakes) winter sports competition.

But there is a method behind Antti's apparent slope-side madness.

As revealed by the official Twitter page of the Finnish Olympic Team, he's actually knitting a blanket for the newborn son of Finland's presidential couple.

And they're all at it now.

"We are knitting again," said the tweet. "In Sochi [Winter Olympic Games in 2014] we made a huge scarf, this time we are knitting a blanket for our presidential couple's newborn son."

Back in 2014, Antti revealed he was simply knitting to keep things calm for all the athletes on his team and we must say we're impressed, given knitwear is exactly the kind of wardrobe staple one would need while competing in the Winter Olympic Games.

Good on you, Antti. We're big fans of a man who can teach us how to win gold and also help us dress for the occasion.
