What happens at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony?

The country's largest stadium, Stade de France, will be the home of the Olympics 2024. However, for the first time in the Games' history, the opening ceremony won't be taking place within the stadium itself.

Instead, the formalities will introduce a number of Paris landmarks that will be used as competitive venues throughout the sporting competition.

What's more, the nations taking part in the Olympics will be introduced, as part of the opening ceremony, on a parade of boats through the water that runs through the French capital. It's been said that an estimated 100 boats, carrying over 10,000 athletes and VIPs, will be included.

The celebratory event will close at the Trocadero, next to the iconic image of the Eiffel Tower.
