After a break of 13 years, the cast of Cold Feet have reunited for a new series on ITV.
But one of the biggest joys of being back together was seeing how John Thomson had "got himself straightened up", according to actor Robert Bathurst.
Thomson has spoken openly about his struggles with alcohol, but has been teetotal for almost a decade.
"John Thomson has got himself straightened up a bit and it was a huge pleasure for us all to see," his co-star Bathurst told Digital Spy.
"Sometimes when people get themselves straight, they become boring! John is completely the opposite. The pleasure of his company has redoubled and he's as sharp as anything. We all really enjoyed seeing that, and he's much happier."
Bathurst and Thomson return to their roles of David and Pete in the new series of Cold Feet, which begins tomorrow night (Monday, September 5) at 9pm on ITV.
