Michael Fassbender's spy thriller The Agency returned to our screens today, almost two years since it first debuted. The hugely anticipated second season arrived on Paramount+, with all ten episodes currently available to stream.

The series, which is based on French drama Le Bureau des Légendes, follows Brandon Colby (aka 'Martian'), an uncover CIA agent who is ordered to return to London Station for a new mission.

Martian struggles to leave behind the life he has built in Ethiopia, after spending the last six years as Paul Lewis. When a past love reappears, Martian is torn between his career and his heart, inadvertently putting the lives of his loved ones at risk.

"Betrayed, compromised, and haunted by the woman he couldn't save, CIA agent Martian’s world unravels as a mole hunt plunges London Station into chaos. As loyalties fracture, the truth becomes a weapon – and Martian's only way out is deeper in," reads the synopsis.

"The Agency Season 2 proves that you don't need constant gunfights to make a thrilling television show," the review continues. "By focusing on the heavy psychological toll of deceit and the sheer weight of office bureaucracy, it delivers a deeply satisfying, adult thriller that rewards your patience."

ScreenRant described The Agency as a "masterpiece", and pointed out the "profound character development and top-notch performances from the cast" that "carry the quieter moments nicely".

Meanwhile, Inverse added: "In Season 2, The Agency is not only better than ever, but it also makes a lot of other spy dramas look juvenile. And that's because this show turns the mundane amazing and the amazing commonplace."

The Agency is now streaming on Paramount+.
