The BBC has released a first trailer for Babies, an upcoming six-part drama starring Paapa Essiedu and Siobhán Cullen. The clip, which you can watch above, offers a first glimpse at what the BBC describes as a "tender yet urgent love story".
The series follows couple Lisa (Cullen) and Stephen (Essiedu) as they navigate the devastating heartbreak of pregnancy loss. The pair play a couple in their 30s whose dream of becoming parents is tested by a miscarriage.
The trailer showcases the raw, intimate and quietly powerful nature of their story, which balances grief with humour and warmth.

Essiedu is best known for his roles in series like Black Mirror, The Lazarus Project, I May Destroy You, and recently The Capture. Cullen has appeared in the series Bodkin, The Dry and Obituary.
Also starring are Charlotte Riley (The Peripheral, Press) and Jack Bannon (Pennyworth, Pulse) as Amanda and Dave, a new couple working through compatibility challenges of their own. Their arrival gradually exposes fault lines in Stephen and Dave's long-standing friendship, adding another layer of emotional complexity to the series.

Babies comes from two-time BAFTA winner Stefan Golaszewski, who created, wrote and directed the whole series. Golaszewski previously earned widespread acclaim for his work on Mum and Marriage, and this new project looks set to continue his reputation for deeply felt, character-driven storytelling.
When the series was announced in December, Golaszewski said in a statement: "Paapa, Siobhán, Jack and Charlotte are all incredible actors. Their warmth, detail and deep humanity are essential to telling this crucial story that's never told."

Ruth Kenley-Letts, the executive producer for Snowed-In Productions behind Babies, said: "The emotional truth of Stefan's writing is exceptional. I am so excited to be playing a small part in bringing Stefan's compelling story of love and hope to the screen."
"Babies has everything we love about Stefan Golaszewski's work - a tender, authentic, emotional and human look at couples navigating a time in their lives that is rarely covered on television," added Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama.
All episodes of Babies land on BBC iPlayer at 6am on 30 March, with the series also airing on BBC One from 9pm that same evening.
