Strictly Come Dancing couple Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell have confirmed that they have already chosen a name for their baby boy – and it's a "unique" one. The pair announced last month that they are expecting their first child together, and have teased fans over what they plan to call him.

While they said they would not confirm their choice yet, the couple opened up about their thinking in a recent YouTube video together.

Answering a fan question, Joe said: "We can’t really give any clues to it really other than I don’t see this name really anywhere. I know some people who have it as their surname but it’s also the sort of name that can be shortened."

"I’d say it’s quite a unique name," he continued, as Dianne joked that it wouldn't be Apple or Pear, Joe explaining: "It's the sort of name that when you get older [it looks good]."

"It’s kind of like Joe, isn’t it?" Dianne added. "Cute when you’re little, you can call yourself Joseph when you’re older."

Joe then suggested it "could be a good sportsperson" moniker, before revealing that Dianne is already calling their unborn baby by the name.

"I’ve purposefully not said it out loud at all whereas Diane keeps calling him by that name. I do feel like between now and our due date, which is another thing I don’t think we’re going to share, I worry that we might end up revealing it by accident."

"From now on, he’s called Derek," he then quipped.

It comes after Dianne recently hit back at some nasty comments criticising her dancing on the show with her baby bump showing.

"I can't believe in 2025 things like this are still being said," the dancer responded in her Instagram Stories, while also reposting an encouraging message from a fan.

The professional was paired with Stefan Dennis on the current season, though they were forced to withdraw after the Neighbours actor sustained a leg injury.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
