Taskmaster has confirmed the release date for its 19th season, with fans not having to wait long.

As per Radio Times, the latest season of Channel 4’s comedy game show will premiere on Thursday 1 May at 9pm, with hosts Greg Davies and Alex Horne welcoming five celebrities to the famous studio for the first time.

Of course, we already know the line-up for the 19th season following its announcement in January, with Fatiha El-Ghorri, Jason Mantzoukas, Mathew Baynton, Rosie Ramsey and Stevie Martin all vying for the coveted crown.

The season will consist of 10 episodes in total, with the finale set to air on 3 July. The episode title for the premiere has been unveiled as ‘Sometimes Spit’ – we’ll have to wait for the nine titles to be released!

Whilst the 19th season is set to air in the coming weeks, the future of the show is relatively secure after a six-season order back in 2023, with a spin-off show – Junior Taskmaster – also part of the order.

“My long-term contempt for young people is a matter of record but other people here at Taskmaster HQ seem convinced that they have merit,” said Davies of the renewal of the show and Junior Taskmaster.

“I will be watching closely to ensure standards are met. I am also delighted that Alex and I return to test the intelligence of comedians in the most scientific of ways. I’ll be pretty angry. It’s not even an act anymore.”

“I've watched many, many comedians flounder when given simple instructions over the past few years and I fully expect the competitors in Junior Taskmaster to be both more competent and just as funny,” added Horne.

“For that series, I will be handing over my assistant's clipboard to someone equally as efficient and persistent as myself because I have a lot more admin to do with six further handfuls of supposedly talented adults. I live for bureaucracy, so this is all excellent news.”

Taskmaster will return with season 19 soon, airing and streaming on Channel 4.
