Period drama The Forsyte Saga starring a Doctor Who actor finally has a UK home.
The series, which will star Millie Gibson, is based on John Galsworthy's novels of the same name following the Forsyte family in 1880s London and the "love, loyalty, ambition and betrayal" of the wealthy clan.
Helmed by Poldark creator Debbie Horsfield, The Forsyte Saga will air in the UK on Channel 5 and in the US on PBS (per Deadline).
Speaking at a showcase in London, Channel 5 boss Ben Frow said: "There is huge breadth of new content on streaming for viewers to discover, but the heart of 5 will always be our commitment to originated, UK-produced public service content – including our award-winning factual and more hours of original drama than we have ever commissioned.

"With an unmissable nationwide marketing campaign that is bigger than anything we’ve done before, I hope we can open the eyes of those who haven’t previously watched with us to some of the fantastic shows we have to entertain them."

The Forsyte Saga is also set to star Joshua Orpin, Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport and Tom Durant Pritchard.

A synopsis for the show reads: "Sticklers for tradition and status, the older Forsytes prize duty and reputation above all else, whilst the younger members rail against the rigidity of family expectations.
"The question of who will take over the family firm puts Soames Forsyte and his cousin Jolyon in conflict just as their lives are turned upside down by the arrival of two remarkable women.
"Ultimately, each Forsyte family member grapples with the same dilemma – is it better to be ruled by the head or the heart?"
There is currently no release date for The Forsyte Saga. Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
