Good Morning Britain viewers have been left confused after a bizarre announcement on the breakfast show.

Richard Arnold presented a "live video" from Peppatown - where animated children's TV show Peppa Pig is set - for a special announcement from Mummy Pig.

The animated pig revealed that her family - including Daddy Pig as well as their children Peppa and George - will be gaining an extra member after sharing news of the character's pregnancy.

"Well, I’m excited to share that our family is getting even bigger because... we’re having another baby!” Mummy Pig said in the video, holding up a scan picture featuring her tiny piglet.

"I’m due in the summer and we’re all so excited… A little overwhelmed at the thought of having three children under five running around, but mostly just completely delighted."

Asked if she had shared the news with Peppa and her little brother George, Mummy Pig continued: "Oh yes, we weren’t able to keep it a secret for long. Peppa knew something was going on, and she’s such a curious thing - we had to tell her before she popped!

“They’ve had the occasional wobble and worry, but they’re mostly so excited! Every day they ask me how big the baby is, when is it coming, does it like muddy puddles and dinosaurs... It never stops!"

The fever dream segment saw Mummy Pig tell Richard that they had not yet decided on a name for the third little pig, with Richard suggesting either Richard or Kate, after Kate Garraway.

Viewers were left baffled by the interview, taking to social media to share their bewilderment.

"I’m sorry but why am I watching Peppa Pig’s mum announce she is expecting a baby pig on a national news programme at 7.30am?" one user posted on X.

"The world has officially gone bonkers, the fact we are interviewing a cartoon character on a morning news programme. Although I did watch it and it made me smile a bit," someone else added.

"How they managed to get a cartoon on breakfast TV and present it "as live" is just remarkable," a third person said.

"This has to make your end of year news compilation surely!" another viewer commented.

Many had an important question about the show's continuity, with an X user asking: "So Mummy Pig is supposedly pregnant. I know it’s a cartoon but isn’t Peppa supposed to be AT LEAST 19 by now?? Has she been the same age this whole time?"

"Waking up and finding out Mummy Pig is pregnant from Peppa Pig was not what I had on my 2025 bingo cards!" one simply wrote, a sentiment echoed by many.

The final episode of Peppa Pig's current series, which will air on Mother's Day (March 30), will include Mummy Pig announcing her pregnancy.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1, ITVX, STV & STV Player.
