Top Boy star Ashley Walters has announced a new career move away from TV with the news he written his first book.

In Always Winning, the actor and rapper writes "candidly about his childhood, as well as his battles with identity, addiction, family and fame, and the realisation that, after years of struggle, only he could change his future".

The book is also described as "the framework Walters developed to turn his life around and set himself on course to a more positive, fulfilled existence".

The synopsis continues: "Revealed for the first time in this book, explored through powerful stories from his life and career, he shares the principles of this philosophy and shows how anyone can use them to overcome their own challenges, helping them to align a true sense of purpose with inner happiness and personal success and fulfilment."

Elsewhere, the actor recently appeared on-screen in Harlan Coben's new Netflix thriller Missing You, which arrived on the platform on New Year's Day.

"It was really cool to be a part of it and work with some amazing people. I've gotten to work with Richard [Armitage]," Walters shared of his experience filming the show.

"I got to work with Lenny [Henry] quite a bit and [Jessica Plummer] so yeah, it was fun. I had a really good time."
