James Nesbitt is no stranger to a crime drama, and his 2022 series Suspect – which first aired on Channel 4 – has been added to Netflix today (August 1).

Nesbitt, who is currently working on Netflix's new Harlan Coben series Missing You, plays veteran detective Danny Frater, who is trying to get to the bottom of his estranged daughter's death.

The show boasts a stellar cast, which also includes Anne-Marie Duff, Death in Paradise favourite Ben Miller, Doctor Who's Sacha Dhawan, Outlander's Sam Heughan, star of ITV's Malpractice Niamh Algar and Richard E Grant.

Suspect is an adaptation of a popular Danish noir series called Forhøret (Face to Face), written by Christoffer Boe, which originally aired in 2019 and has now run for three seasons.

Channel 4's British remake of the crime drama joins a number of other recent additions to Netflix's TV catalogue.

Happy Valley and Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh's ITV series The Trouble with Maggie Cole, which also starred Dawn French, was recently trending on the streaming service. Sheridan Smith's popular drama Cleaning Up, which boasts a strong Rotten Tomatoes score, was also doing well after being added to the platform in April.

BBC period drama The Woman in White, which starred Ben Hardy and first aired back in 2018, also resurfaced this year and landed itself in Netflix's Top 10.

Suspect's second season, which included a mix of returning and brand new cast members, recently launched on Channel 4.

The returning season picked up right where the first left off, with Anne-Marie Duff (who once again played Dr Susannah Newman) now on a desperate journey to track down a self-confessed serial killer before he kills again.

Ben Miller also came back for Suspect season two, with Dominic Cooper, Eddie Marsan and Nicholas Pinnock among the show's new faces.

There's no word yet on whether Suspect season two will also make its way onto Netflix.
