Calling all Vicky McClure fans: the Line of Duty star's record-breaking ITV thriller, Trigger Point, has officially wrapped on its third season and it sounds like it's set to be the best yet.
McClure took to Instagram to announce the update, calling the upcoming season her favourite to date.
"HAPPY 'TRIGGER POINT' 3 WRAP DAY!!!" McClure wrote underneath a photo of the cast and crew.
"Not everyone who worked on TP3 is in this pic, but every crew and cast member has made it my favourite TP to date!"
She added: "Thank you SO much everyone, I've loved every single day of this shoot with you all. Can't wait for you all to watch their hard work and talents hit the @itv screen!"
Trigger Point's second season was a huge hit for the broadcaster, becoming ITV1's second most-watched drama in 2024 behind Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
What to Read Next
The new series will return with six episodes, which are set to rival last season's intense watch.
In a previous statement, ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill, promised "more twists and turns and of course explosions", but season three has a lot to contend with given the devastating events that took place in season two.
The synopsis teases a nerve-shredding watch for fans when a run-of-the-mill bomb threat investigation reveals a "sinister vendetta".
The synopsis states: "Someone is targeting individuals, and demanding revenge. Working alongside the Police Counterterrorism Unit, the Bomb Disposal Squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.
When is the release date for Trigger Point and where can I watch it?
A release date has not yet been set for Trigger Point season three but we would expect it to air early 2026.
Season one debuted on 23 January 2022, followed two years later by season two which aired on 28 January 2024. We assume the third instalment will follow the same trajectory with a January release.
Who stars in Trigger Point season three?
Well, definitely not Mark Stanley as DI Youngblood, but Vicky McClure will be reprising the role of EXPO Lana Washington.
In previous seasons, Lana has, naturally, found herself in the centre of hair-raising, life-or-death situations.
Speaking on her role as the cool and often detached explosives officer, McClure shared in a statement: "Lana is such a complex character to play. It's a joy for an actor to play a role with as many layers as Lana."
Suspicion's Eric Shango will also be back as Lana's right-hand man Danny.
The pair will be joined by Nabil Elouahabi, who returns to the role of Hass, as well as Natalie Simpson and DI Ray's Maanuv Thiara who will step back into the roles of DS Helen Morgan and DI Amar Batra respectively.
Who is the team behind Trigger Point?
Trigger Point was created and written by Daniel Brierley. Line of Duty's Jed Mercurio sits as an executive producer of the series, which is also produced in collaboration with his HTM Television team.
Season three sees Bloodlands' Chris Brandon serve as lead writer, while Vicky McClure will take on the role of executive producer for the second time.
Trigger Point seasons 1-2 are streaming on ITVX, with season 3 yet to confirm a release date. You can buy series 1 now on DVD and Blu-ray.
