Amanda Holden is to co-host ITV's This Morning while Holly Willoughby is on maternity leave.

The Britain's Got Talent judge will fill in for Willoughby for 12 months from September.

Holden will present the first stage of Willoughby's maternity cover with Phillip Schofield on Mondays to Thursdays, with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford continuing on Fridays.

Christine Bleakley will present a portion of the later stages of the maternity cover.

Holden said: "I'm over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I'm thrilled to be keeping Holly's seat on the sofa warm when she goes off on maternity leave.

"I have always been a huge fan of This Morning and love presenting with Phillip so I really can't wait to get started."

Holly Willoughby announced in March that she and husband Dan Baldwin are expecting their third child together.

The couple are already parents to Harry James and Belle, who were born in May 2009 and April 2011 respectively.
