Warcraft III: Reign of Chaosfirst released in 2002 – was a pivotal chapter in the World of Warcraft saga.

Though the series came to be better known for the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) World of Warcraft, its origins as a real-time strategy game are still fondly remembered.

Now, 16 years later, the classic video game is being brought back to life in a 4K remaster.

The new game, Warcraft III: Reforged, will completely remodel the original's maps and characters.

It will include the popular World Editor tool, which will allow players to customise the game. The modding tool actually formed the basis of some massive video games, including League of Legends.

According to Variety, the new game will feature 62 missions and over four hours of reworked outtakes from the original.

The cinematic trailer sees the terrifying Burning Legion fall from the sky to interrupt a showdown between an orc and a human.

"We stand now upon the brink of destruction, for the reign of chaos has come at last," announces an ominous voiceover.

Meanwhile, the fantastically old-school gameplay trailer takes us back to the noughties with aerial shots of campaign preparations and large-scale battles.

The new game will be released in 2019, which is brilliant news for the many gamers who've been hoping for a Warcraft III remaster for years.
