In the wake of Sadie's disappearance, Max reveals the truth behind his move to Erinsborough to Byron and Aaron. Andrew confirms that an unidentified man escorted an apparently drunk Sadie from the bar, but Holly is adamant they'd only had a couple of drinks.
Convinced Sadie has been drugged, Byron lashes out at Max for putting them in danger. Andrew ushers Byron away, leaving a shameful Max to seek refuge elsewhere.
Max doesn't get far before his nightmares come true – Carter Haddon, the criminal he's been running from, stops him in his tracks. Carter insists Max get in his car if he wants Sadie to be found.

Later, Holly receives a text supposedly from Max claiming he's laying low so no one else gets hurt. Resolved, everyone decides there's not much they can do but respect Max's decision.
Meanwhile, Nicolette interrupts the Varga-Murphys again, only making Cara uncomfortable as talk turns to Nicolette and Maddy. Then, after hearing news of Sadie's disappearance, and coming to terms with the news that Chelsea doesn't want to be found, Cara makes the decision to drop the search for her sister.
The decision throws Nicolette, who later apologises for overstepping into Cara's business. Cara is reflective, hopeful that she and her sister may rebuild their relationship one day in the distant future.
Elsewhere, desperate to reconnect, Krista decides to make a grand gesture in the hope of reminding Leo how much they mean to each other. Later, Taye calls it how he sees it – Fallon has feelings for Leo and she's always resented her sister. Although Fallon protests, it's clear he's on the money
Taye is pleased with the deal he's brokered to book a popular jazz crooner to perform at the Piano Bar. Things go south when Taye realises he's made an error, with the artist demanding a fee triple what he'd first thought. Panicking and desperate not to lose his job, or his family's approval, Taye asks Fallon to help him get the money from Krista.
When Fallon refuses, firmly against asking her sister for money, Taye gives a shocking ultimatum – find a way or he'll tell Krista everything.
