Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (November 27), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has aired shocking flashback scenes involving Leela Dexter, in the show’s latest episode.
Leela has been struggling since the birth of her baby daughter Clara, and it became clear that she is hiding a secret from her husband Joel.
It was revealed that she doesn’t believe Joel is the father of her baby, but she is desperate to make sure Joel doesn’t find out the truth.
In today’s episode, Joel and Leela prepared to register Clara’s birth. He suggested that they give Clara the middle name ‘Marie’, after his mum, but Leela looked unsure.

When Joel brought up the subject again, Leela snapped at him. She explained that she was just tired, and they would talk about the middle name on the way to the meeting.
Leela told Mercedes about the situation when she came round and said that she didn’t want to make this big decision if Clara wasn’t Joel’s child.
Mercedes encouraged Leela to tell Joel the truth, but if she didn’t want to do this, she would have to commit to the lie and make it seem real.
Later, the family had a meal to celebrate Clara’s name being official, and Marie was touched when Joel announced her new middle name.

Leela made a toast as she thanked her family, making it clear that nothing was ever going to break them apart.
After being distant with one another recently, Leela confirmed to Joel that she wanted them to be intimate again, and Joel was pleased.
That evening, after the kids were asleep, the couple kissed passionately. But the intimacy suddenly triggered some sinister flashbacks for Leela.

In the brief clips, Leela was seen stumbling through the woods, amongst a crowd of people. She was involved in a struggle with someone else, and then looked unresponsive on the floor as a man approached her.
While she brushed away Joel’s concerns, it is clear that Leela is still deeply affected by a traumatic event that took place during the missing year.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
