Hollyoaks star Danny Mac has praised his upcoming exit from the show, insisting it was important that his character Dodger Savage left as a hero.

Dramatic scenes on the Channel 4 soap next week will play out as part of Dodger's final episodes following Mac's decision to leave.

Viewers will see an unstable Will plotting the ultimate revenge on Dodger as part of his exit plot, but Mac has revealed that he is delighted with the storyline as it allowed Dodger to be remembered in a positive light.

Speaking to All About Soap about his exit, he said: "I really couldn't have asked for any more. To get Will back in was genius.

"I am so pleased on a personal level that I got to finish with James Atherton (Will) because when he left before I was a little bit disappointed and gutted I didn't get to go with him."

Mac added: "Poor Dodger has been built up to have these three women, and three children essentially, and then he couldn't do right for doing wrong. No matter what decision he made, I couldn't fathom how he could leave and remain the good guy and I really wanted him to.
