Hollyoaks star Ellis Hollins has warned of danger ahead for his character Tom Cunningham as he plays a key role in the ongoing Blue storyline.

Tom has been tipped as one to watch next week, as he becomes the first villager to figure out that Dave Williams is the ruthless gangster who has been causing chaos in the village.

After spotting tell-tale signs that Dave is responsible for the kidnap of Mercedes McQueen's newborn twins, Tom tries to warn his sister Cindy Cunningham that her husband can't be trusted.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Ellis explained: "Tom first gets suspicious when he spots Dave up to no good in a car park.

"Dave is with Rex, and while Tom doesn't know who this other person is, they're doing some dodgy dealings.

"In typical Tom fashion, he gets caught up in criminal activity. He realises that Dave may be the one who's taken Mercedes's babies, or at least something isn't quite right.

"I think it's a whistleblower moment from there. Tom spots more and more clues."

He continued: "Tom and Cindy don't see eye to eye over this until it's too late! Tom is definitely frustrated that Cindy overlooks his accusations.

"I think Cindy probably should have paid more attention to Tom from the beginning. If someone is making an accusation like that, it's definitely a serious matter and you should probably listen to them.

"Cindy just doesn't seem to have a care in the world over what Tom is saying and she only pays attention to him when it's too late."

With intense scenes on the way, Ellis went on to praise Dominic Power, who plays scheming Dave.

"It was great to work with him – I think he's a very diverse actor," Ellis told us.

"With the performance that he puts on screen, and working with him off screen, I think he's a true professional.

"Dave is definitely a big threat to Tom. I suppose you'd have to be somewhat unpredictable to lead a double life for so long and get away with it. Dave seems like more of a physical threat than other people Tom has faced before.

"I definitely think Dave is going to be somewhat of a formidable opponent for Tom and whoever else he faces. So Tom should really consider himself in some danger!"

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
