The latest Hollyoaks Favourites episode has reminded viewers that Sienna Blake was not always a fan-favourite.

Wednesday's (April 29) E4 instalment travelled back close to a decade to when Sienna (Anna Passey) was determined to win Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) away from Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox) at all costs.

Sienna had made Darren and Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) believe that Nancy had attacked her and was abusing drugs, as a way to get her out of the way.

Jessica Fox introduced the episode by teasing that it featured Nancy "at her most desperate", as Sienna drove Nancy to flee with her son Oscar and nephew Charlie all the way to the roof of a multi-storey car park.

As Nancy tried to outrun police, she collided with another vehicle and crashed into the wall, sending her car dangerously teetering over the edge of the car park.

Nancy was barely able to get Oscar and Charlie out of the car, before it careened off the side and nearly crushed Kathy Beale Sandy Roscoe below.

As Darren and the police arrived to take Nancy into custody, Sienna flashed a maniacal grin because she knew her evil plan had worked. Needless to say, this is not how viewers are used to seeing Sienna these days!

"I couldn't stand Sienna at first but over the years she’s really grown on me and has become my favourite, and her character has grown and developed so much since this, I can’t imagine #Hollyoaks without her," one viewer tweeted.

Another noted: "I love Sienna now but my goodness she was evil back in the day."

At the time of this storyline, Anna Passey told Digital Spy that Sienna wasn't so much evil as she was deeply "insecure" about being loved.

"Sienna can sense that Nancy is always going to be in the picture," she explained. "Darren is always thinking of Nancy and they're obviously connected by the children. Sienna realises for the first time that Nancy is always going to be part of Darren's life no matter what, and that really frightens her.

"Sienna is very insecure over her relationship with Darren, so that's why she comes up with all of this. It's her worst scheme yet. She really wants to remove Nancy from the picture altogether. Sienna is gunning to either have Nancy arrested or blocked from having any access to the children."

Down the road, Nancy wound up back with Darren in the end… at least until he cheated on her with Mandy.

As for Sienna, she recently showed her dark side again when she considered taking revenge on her own sister Liberty for rekindling her romance with their shared ex-boyfriend Brody.

Hollyoaks airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm. Wednesdays through Fridays on E4 will feature classic episodes called Hollyoaks Favourites to compensate for the soap suspending filming.
