Hollyoaks star Rory Douglas-Speed has hinted that his character Joel Dexter might turn bad again.
Long-time Hollyoaks viewers may remember that Joel Dexter was a darker character before Rory took over the role from Andrew Still in 2016, and now the actor is teasing that the return of Joel's dad Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) next year could see his bad side come out again.
"I don't know any plans yet but if Warren manages to get inside Joel's head and makes him into a bit of a baddie again I think personally I would love that," Rory revealed.
"I think the audience would like to see that, albeit they do like seeing nice Joel, but for me I want to see him turn bad."

The actor also added that he's excited to work with Jamie once again, especially because they share "a really nice 'father and son' chemistry".

"I'm really looking forward to it, the stuff I had with him when I first started was brilliant, the storylines were excellent, he's great to work with," Rory continued.
"We've been quite lucky, he'll hate me for saying this but we've got a really nice 'father and son' chemistry I think on screen, which is sometimes quite difficult to achieve, he's great. I'm ecstatic and I can't wait to see what's coming up for us both."
Meanwhile, Joel's dark side could come out a lot sooner than expect, as he is also an official suspect in the big 'Who Shot Mercedes McQueen?' storyline that launches next week and Rory also spoke about what could have motivated Joel to shoot Mercedes.
"Joel has a couple of motives: in the weeks previous he finds Mercedes' confession that she ran over Grace and he thinks that Mercedes has also killed Harry," he revealed.
"He got beaten up by Liam and Mercedes then threatened to kill Joel and hurt her own cousin, Goldie who Joel's besotted by, if he spills the beans, so that's the first motive.
"The second bit is that she embarrasses him in front of the whole village and calls him out on his past mistakes when he's trying to not be that kind of guy anymore. He's a Fox at the end of the day, he's Warren Fox's son and thinks that this girl deserves what she gets.
"She's pressing and ticking all the boxes for someone to want revenge. Bad Joel is making an appearance and we love Bad Joel."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
